The Five Hundred is Ford’s flagship four-door sedan which debuted for 2005, built on a new platform shared with the Freestyle crossover. Ford describes the Five Hundred as an upscale sedan for persons who like the upright Command Seating, flexible storage, and all-wheel-drive capability of an SUV, but prefer the comfort and driving characteristics of a sedan. The Five Hundred, along with the Ford Freestyle and the Mercury Montego, ended production at Ford's Chicago Assembly Plant during the summer of 2007.
