The Subaru Forester, is a compact crossover SUV produced since 1997 by the Japanese automaker Subaru. Released in the United States in 1998, it is based on the chassis of the Subaru Impreza. However since General Motors no longer holds an ownership stake in Subaru's parent company, Fuji Heavy Industries, sales in India of the Chevrolet-badged Forester have ended.
