The Nissan Rogue is a new compact crossover SUV released in September 2007 for the 2008 model year by the Japanese automaker Nissan. Previously, American Motors (AMC) used the Rogue nameplate from 1966 to 1969 on the top trim two-door hardtop and convertible models, as well as performance editions, of the Rambler American. The Nissan Rogue is sold only in North America and replaced the Nissan X-Trail in Canada and Nissan's entry-level SUV, as the Murano continues to grow in size and price. It is also Nissan's first SUV to have a predecessor, at least only in Canada. The Nissan Rogue made its debut at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit in January 7, 2007. An all-new version of the X-Trail (on which platform the Rogue is shared with) has been launched in Europe and elsewhere, but there are no plans to market it in North America. In Mexico, the Rogue is sold alongside the second-generation Nissan X-Trail. The counterpart of the Rogue, called the Qashqai, was introduced in Europe in early 2007 and as the Dualis in Japan and Australia and the CCUV in China. Important is to note that Rogue's C platform, is not a carry-over from the Sentra's, given that the platform suffered modifications (as in most of cars sharing a platform).
